  i'm sitting up north in a snow bank and freezing.

  Orwell, 1984, and the Watchtower

  so my english class just got handed (yesterday) 1984, by george orwell.

  its a book i've been wanting to read for a long time, but haven't been able to (i read non stop for english class).. so i was really excited when i got the book.

  from what i've heard about it, it seemed like it would be really pertinent for people in the watchtower.. all i can say is wow.

  I hate to admit this, I've seen the movie but haven't read the book. I need to stop by the library and pick it up because as we all know the book is always better and I loved the movie.

  i have a friend that was dumb enough to allow two elders in his house at the same time to talk to him, he let them in.

  i have told him over and over again never to talk to two elders at the same time.

  Im glad I read this thread. I could have imagined myself opening my door to two elders thinking that no harm can come of it. But now Im thinking other wise. I certainly dont want some wacko religous cult making an announcement from their pulpit slandering my name. Next time two elders stop buy I'll tell them that Im on my way out. (edited to add) P.S.   last night we went to visit my sil and her 3 kids.

  my sil is a jw but very nice and never pushes her beliefs upon anyone else.

  she's been df'd 2-3 times but is currently reinstated.. i was trying to talk with our niece.

  For me I would have to say family. Particularly my wife and children followed by my parents, siblings and extended family.

  Anyone ever go on one of those bus trips to bethel?

  back in the late eighties while still in high school instead of doing something fun for spring break i got an all expense paid trip to bethel.

  on a bus no less with about 75 other jws headed to the promised land.

  somewhere i still have a photo album filled with snapshots of the printing presses and all of the "cadets" happily churning out literature -- and of course all of the female cadets happily scrubbing toilets and doing laundry.

  Yeah, I went on a bus trip to bethel in the late 80’s. I was pretty young and I can remember being excited by the fact that I could possibly see some of the sites of the city. I was hoping to get a glimpse of the statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center. Of course I didn't get to see anything that the WTBS didn't deem approiate for the R&F including all of the above sites.
